Fundraiser: Care for Neve
Mid-September, a tourist alerted us to an injured cat by their Airbnb. The photos of the wounds looked serious so we went immediately to get him. We trapped him (easily - he’s allll love) and got him to a clinic.
Neve had old unhealed wounds on his shoulders, was unneutered and scrawny. With wound care, antibiotics and quality food, Neve made great strides. So much so that by mid-November he was due to fly to a lovely foster in the Netherlands. (PS - Neve is an absolute sweetheart).
A week before he was due to fly, we noticed weakness in his hind legs. We immediately knew something was wrong. While he was at the clinic it quickly progressed, with lameness in his front legs too and a sort-of blindness. It was scary to see.
The options of what it could be were mostly dire, and our vet was clear about that. So Neve had a series of tests done, and the results just came in. It is the best case scenario! Toxoplasmosis. Not great, but it is treatable and it means that 1. he can live and 2. he can travel to a new home and live a good life in the very near future.
A month-long treatment
Neve has been on a slew of medication and has already improved. He will board at the clinic and receive a specific medicine regime for 28 days.
Costs for all of the testing, x-rays, meds and his care is estimated at €555.79. As this is in addition to the €300 for his initial care, we are very much at our max - so we are asking for your help! Any amount at all will go a long way.
