Trap Neuter Return workshop with Animais de Rua

There’s not a rescuer on São Miguel that isn’t overwhelmed. And the amount of homeless cats here continues to grow. If you have the time and heart to help these domestic animals that others have abandoned, please join us for this workshop.

Why does TNR work?

Trap Neuter Return (TNR) is a proven approach for humane population management. TNR reduces the number of kittens born on the street and improves the lives of adult feral cats through regular feeding and reduced fighting.

TNR workshop

Hosted by Animais de Rua and Cats of Eden, the Trap Neuter Return workshop will teach you the basics of TNR and colony management in just 4 hours. These steps are essential for anyone interested in improving the lives of community cats.

Learn how to humanely care for the unowned, outdoor cats in your neighbourhood. All steps in setting up a sterilised, healthy, and well-managed colony will be covered, including:

  • Trapping and transferring

  • Feeding best practices

  • Getting the cats spayed/neutered and clinic options

  • Working with your neighbours

  • Borrowing traps, receiving food donations, and more

Practical info

Snacks and refreshments as well as digital resource guides will be provided and trapping techniques demonstrated. Cost is €10 and will go to supporting TNR campaigns on São Miguel. Spots are limited. The workshop will be given in English and Portuguese. The event will be held on multiple dates; select which option suits you on the sign-up form. Location will be announced soon.
